
Mingwei Xu, Ph.D. in Engineering, Master's Supervisor. He graduated from the University of Science and Technology Beijing. He is currently working at the School of Safety Engineering and serves as a committee member of the First Faculty Party Branch. From October 2019 to November 2020, he was funded by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) to conduct joint doctoral research at the Department of Industrial Engineering, West Virginia University (USA). From September 2022 to September 2023, he carried out research as a senior visiting scholar at the China Academy of Safety Science and Technology. His main research and teaching interests include personal protective equipment and emergency support, fire prevention and control technologies, and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS).

Member of the Chinese Ergonomics Society; Member of the Beijing Society of Energy and Environment; Executive Member of the Confined Space Branch of the China Occupational Health Association; Reviewer for journals including Human Factors.
He has presided over projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, and the Fundamental Research Funds for Central Universities, and has participated in national key R&D programs, EU-funded projects, and enterprise safety-related projects. He has published over 20 academic papers, applied for 6 invention patents, and participated in the publication of 1 academic monograph. He has received one First Prize and one Second Prize of the 2023 Science and Technology Progress Award of the China Association of Work Safety, one 2023 Achievement Transformation Award of the China Occupational Health Association, one First Prize of the 2020 Science and Technology Progress Award of the China Occupational Health Association, the Third National Outstanding Undergraduate Thesis Supervisor Award in Safety Science and Engineering (2023), and the 2024 Outstanding Undergraduate Thesis Supervisor Award of Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology.
