Library
Established in 1978, the Library of Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology comprises three campuses: Qingyuan, Kangzhuang, and Fangshan. Covering approximately 19,000 square meters, it provides around 3,000 reading seats. The library integrates multiple functions including collection, lending, reading, viewing, listening, research, learning, exhibition, conferences, and training. With an open, interconnected, and fully accessible layout, it operates on an intelligent system to create a smart library.
The library prioritizes resource development. Aligned with the university's academic disciplines and research needs, it has built a comprehensive collection to serve faculty and students' literature requirements. Its holdings include over 1.3 million physical books (45,000 foreign titles), more than 400 Chinese and international periodicals, 1.34 million e-books, and 40+ databases.
The library provides comprehensive intelligent services including self-service kiosks, on-site consultations, and online support. Its collections are open daily from 7:00 AM to 10:30 PM, featuring full-stack reading facilities, self-service borrowing and returning, and inter-campus circulation. The unified WeChat and mobile library platform mirrors the official website, enabling real-time book searches, reservations, renewals, access to Chinese and foreign databases, inter-library loans, and document delivery services. It also updates library news, event previews, and book recommendations in real time. Mobile QR code scanning for book borrowing is available. The networked electronic document support system operates 24/7, while the library boasts full Wi-Fi coverage. Specialized spaces include an Academician Resource Center and interactive zones for digital sharing, cultural exchange, and leisure activities, complemented by training workshops and discussion forums.
The library has established cooperative relations with the National Library of China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and other institutions for the joint knowledge, construction, and sharing of literature and information resources. It has joined interlibrary cooperation networks such as CALIS and BALIS, playing an active role in projects including database group procurement, online collaborative cataloging, theses database, joint reference services, and interlibrary loans.
