Renyou Zhang

Renyou Zhang, Lecturer and Master’s supervisor. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Safety Engineering from Beijing University of Chemical Technology in 2012, followed by a Master's degree in Process Safety and Loss Prevention from the University of Sheffield, UK in 2013. In 2018, he obtained his Ph.D. in Engineering (Safety and Reliability Engineering) from the University of Aberdeen, UK. From 2018 to 2020, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Department of Industrial Engineering at Tsinghua University. He joined Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology in October 2020 to pursue teaching and research.

His research focuses on the mechanisms of human error in hazardous chemical laboratory safety and theoretical studies on safety assessment methods for complex human-machine tightly coupled systems. He has published over 20 papers, including over 10 SCI/EI-indexed articles. He co-authored one international academic book and contributed to the development of 3 national standards, 1 standard for the nuclear industry. He was also selected in the 2021-2023 Young Talent Support Program of the Beijing Association for Science and Technology, and he serves as an editorial board member for journals including Safety, Health and Environment and Chemical Safety and Environment. He has been invited to review papers for SCI journals including Reliability Engineering and System Safety, Safety Science, and Ships and Offshore Structure.
