
Kai Wang, male, born in December 1982 in Nanchong, Sichuan Province, a Research Fellow in Natural Sciences, a Professor of Responsibility in New Energy Science and Engineering, and a Senior Engineer in Offshore Engineering, and holds a Ph.D. in Engineering. He serves as a master's supervisor in Mechanical Engineering as well as in Energy and Power Engineering. Dr. Wang is currently the Academic Leader and Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Key Laboratory of Key Technologies and Equipment for Deepwater Oil and Gas Pipelines.
Dr. Wang received his Ph.D. in Oil and Gas Storage and Transportation Engineering from China University of Petroleum (Beijing) in 2009. He subsequently joined the National Energy R&D Center for Deepwater Oil and Gas Engineering at the CNOOC Research Institute. In 2016, he joined the faculty of the Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology. He is a member of the third cohort of the "National Huang Danian-style Faculty Teams," a National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker (Petroleum and Chemical Industry), a professional member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), a committee member of the Petroleum Storage and Transportation Division of the Chinese Petroleum Society, a practicing member of the China Engineering Consulting Association, a member of the Editorial Board for the first national textbook series on hydrogen energy, and a scientific committee member of the National Conference on Energy and Environmental Materials. He also serves as a reviewer for the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), for the Ministry of Education's dissertation evaluations, for undergraduate program accreditation committees, and for various domestic and international academic journals.
Dr. Wang has led more than 30 national, municipal, and industry-funded research projects, including grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Beijing Natural Science Foundation, and commissioned projects from CNOOC. He has provided technical services on over 200 subsea pipeline cases involving design, inspection, monitoring, verification, numerical simulation, and safety assessment. He has published more than 50 academic papers, holds 13 granted invention patents, and has received eight provincial and ministerial-level awards. His representative achievements have been widely reported by well-known media outlets such as Yangtze Evening Post and Qilu Evening News.
