
Wei Zhang, male, born in November 1979, Taian city, Shandong Province. Professor. Wei Zhang is the Academic Leader of the Discipline of Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics. He graduated from the Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in July 2008, obtaining a Ph.D. in Thermal Engineering. He then served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), the Netherlands. From August 2009 to June 2019, he held successive positions in the School of Renewable Energy and the School of Energy, Power and Mechanical Engineering at North China Electric Power University. In July 2019, he transferred to the Department of Energy Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology (BIPT). He once served as the Director of the Department of Energy Engineering and Secretary of the Party Branch, and currently holds the position of Academic Leader of the Discipline of Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics at BIPT.
Prof. Wei Zhang has long been engaged in teaching and research in the fields of efficient and clean utilization of energy, development of new energy, hydrogen energy utilization, data center cooling, thermal management of batteries and high heat flux chips, high-efficiency phase change heat transfer in boiling and condensation, supercritical fluid heat transfer, process energy conservation, and utilization of residual energy (e.g., waste heat, residual pressure). He has published over 100 academic papers in total, among which more than 50 are indexed by SCI/EI, with the papers cited over 800 times. He has filed 26 national patents, including 13 authorized invention patents.
As a project leader and core member, he has undertaken more than 20 provincial and ministerial-level projects, such as the Hydrogen Energy Project of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Integrated Renewable Energy Utilization Project of the Chinese Government/World Bank/Global Environment Facility (GEF), sub-projects of the National Key R&D Program, General Projects and Young Scientists Fund Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Natural Science Foundation Projects of Beijing, Joint Projects of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission (BMEC) and NSFC, and the Scientific Research Foundation for Returned Overseas Chinese Scholars of the Ministry of Education (MOE). He has also undertaken over 30 commissioned R&D projects from enterprises and research institutes, including PetroChina, State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), PipeChina, China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC), and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
He has won multiple awards, including the First Prize of Outstanding Scientific Research Achievements in Higher Education Institutions of MOE (Natural Science Category), the Second Prize of Science and Technology Progress of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, the Zhu Liyuehua Award of CAS, and the "Chen Xuejun Excellent Young Paper Award" at the Multiphase Flow Conference of the Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics.
He serves as a reviewer for many domestic and foreign authoritative journals, including Solar Energy, International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, Applied Thermal Engineering, International Journal of Thermal Sciences, International Journal of Refrigeration, Lab on a Chip, RSC Advances, ASME Journal of Heat Transfer, Physics of Fluids, Acta Energiae Solaris Sinica, Journal of Engineering Thermophysics, Journal of Chemical Industry and Engineering (China), and Chemical Industry and Engineering Progress. He is also a communication evaluation expert for NSFC, Natural Science Foundation of Beijing, and the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center (CDGDC) of MOE, a member of the Expert Committee of the Beijing Energy and Environment Society, a Young Member of the Multiphase Flow Branch of the Chinese Society of Measurement and Testing, and a member of the Expert Committee of the Hebei Key Laboratory of Geothermal Energy Utilization Technology.
