
Bin Xiao was born in October 1968 in Jianli, Hubei Province. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering and is an Associate Professor and Master's Supervisor, and a Council Member of the Emergency Management Subcommittee of the Systems Engineering Society of China. In 1996, he graduated from the National University of Defense Technology with a Master's degree in Military Operations Research. In 2003, he received a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering from Beihang University (Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics). From October 2003 to September 2005, he conducted postdoctoral research in Management Science and Engineering at the Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology, Tsinghua University. From October 2005 to December 2007, he worked as a Senior Engineer at the Army Aviation Research Institute. Since January 2008, he has been with the School of Economics and Management, Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology.
His research focuses on low-carbon operations management, low-carbon supply chain management, emergency management, and product life cycle assessment (LCA) and environmental auditing. In collaboration with government agencies and enterprises, he has undertaken and completed six research projects. His research reports have been adopted and applied by government departments and enterprises, generating significant economic and social benefits. He has published more than ten academic papers, including four indexed by EI, and received one Special Prize for Military Science Research. The postgraduate student he supervised, Su Liya, was awarded the National Scholarship for Graduate Students, and her thesis received an award at an international conference.
