Gengzhi Yu




Gengzhi Yu, male, born in December 1971. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Chengdu University of Science and Technology in 1993 and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2001. From 2007 to 2008, he was a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Energy, Environmental and Chemical Engineering, Washington University in St. Louis (funded by Lee Foundation USA), and from 2008 to 2009, he was a Visiting Scientist at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Washington (funded by University of Washington). He has served as Assistant Researcher, Associate Researcher at the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor-level Senior Engineer at Shenhua Group Beijing Low-Carbon Clean Energy Research Institute. Since June 2015, he has been a Professor and Master's Supervisor at Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology.

He has long been committed to the research and development of multiphase flow reactors and microreactors, and has engaged in numerous applied technology development projects in coal chemical industry, petrochemical industry, and environmental engineering fields. He has participated in the compilation and development of large-scale process packages and several industrial pilot tests. He has presided over 3 National Natural Science Foundation General Programs and participated in multiple National 973 Program, 863 Program, National Key Technology R&D Program, and National Natural Science Foundation Key Projects. He has published over 40 papers and holds 15 authorized Chinese invention patents.

He has won the First Prize of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association Technology Invention Award (2009, ranked 2nd), First Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award (2006, ranked 5th), and Third Prize of Sinopec Group Science and Technology Progress Award (2008, ranked 3rd). He was recognized as Zhongguancun High-end Leading Talent (2013) and Outstanding Teacher of Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He also serves as a reviewer for National Natural Science Foundation General Programs, committee member of Mixing Technology Expert Committee of Chemical Engineering Design Professional Committee of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Survey and Design Association, environmental impact assessment expert of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and reviewer for several professional journals.
