Wei Ding




Wei Ding, male, born in 1987 in Neijiang, Sichuan, holds a Ph.D. in Engineering (Postdoctoral Fellow) and is a Professor. He obtained his Ph.D. in Engineering from Sichuan University in 2016. From August 2016 to July 2019, he conducted postdoctoral research at Guangdong DEMEI Fine Chemical Group Co., Ltd. and the College of Polymer Science and Engineering at Sichuan University. In August 2019, he joined the Leather and Footwear Research Institute of China Poly Group Corporation, engaging in scientific research and development. Since November 2023, he has been teaching at the School of New Materials and Chemical Engineering, Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology.

His research primarily focuses on the development and application of biomass-based functional materials. He has presided over 9 projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Fund, Beijing Science and Technology Special Project, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation General Project, Poly Light Industry Technology Innovation Key Special Project, Ministry of Science and Technology Foreign Expert Program, and enterprise technical research projects. As a technical leader, he participated in one National Key R&D Program Strategic Scientific and Technological Innovation Key Special Project. Based on related research results, he has published 68 papers in domestic and international academic journals such as Journal of Hazardous Materials, Green Chemistry, Journal of Cleaner Production, Carbohydrate Polymers, Science of the Total Environment, ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering, Industrial Crops and Products, and Materials Today Chemistry, with an H-index > 20, and has been granted 13 invention patents. In 2021, he was selected for the Beijing Science and Technology Rising Star Program and received one first prize for Science and Technology Progress Award from China Light Industry Council and one second prize for Productivity Promotion Award (Innovation Development) from China Productivity Promotion Center. He serves as an editor and reviewer for academic journals, including China Leather, a youth editorial board member for Collagen and Leather and Fine Chemicals, a guest editor for Polymers and Frontiers in Materials, and a reviewer for academic journals such as Chemical Engineering Journal and Journal of Hazardous Materials.
