Haibo Jin




Haibo Jin, male, born in February 1969. He obtained his Ph.D. in Engineering from the Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1998 and was promoted to Professor in 2006. He was a Senior Visiting Scholar at the University of Leeds, UK in 2004 and a Visiting Professor at the University of Michigan, USA in 2012. He previously served as Vice Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering and is currently the Vice President of Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology and Director of the Beijing Key Laboratory of Fuel Cleanization and Efficient Catalytic Emission Reduction Technology. Since 2006, he has also served as a Ph.D. supervisor in Chemical Engineering and Technology at Beijing University of Chemical Technology, having supervised over 40 graduate students who have all been employed by central state-owned enterprises, state-owned enterprises, or public institutions, with more than half working in Beijing.

Aligning with national strategic needs in the energy and environmental fields, his research focuses on fundamental studies of catalytic materials combined with practical applications, addressing core scientific and technological issues in green synthesis and clean conversion. His work spans three main areas: environmentally friendly catalytic reaction engineering, environmental and green catalytic materials technology, and catalytic synthesis processes for high-value fine chemicals. He serves as a committee member of the Process Simulation and Simulation Professional Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society, a member of the Multiphase Flow Professional Committee of the China Testing Society, and an expert for the China Engineering Education Accreditation Association. He is also an executive editor for IJEE (EI) and IJEWM (EI). As principal investigator, he has led one National Natural Science Foundation Major Research Program project, two National Natural Science Foundation General Program projects, one Beijing Natural Science Foundation project, one returnee startup project each from the Ministry of Education and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Personnel, six Sinopec Group projects, and over 40 enterprise-sponsored projects. As first or corresponding author, he has published more than 100 papers in domestic and international journals, with 31 indexed by SCI and 52 by EI. He has applied for 16 invention patents (6 authorized) and authored/edited 4 books, including "Chemical Separation Processes," "Fine Chemical Reaction Engineering," "Petrochemical Process Practice Tutorial," and "Chemical Reaction Engineering," as well as translating "Chemical Reaction Engineering." His publications have won two first prizes and two second prizes from the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation Excellent Publications Awards, and one second prize from the China Petroleum and Chemical Research Association. He has received one first prize and two second prizes for Beijing Higher Education Teaching Achievement Awards. Six of his research projects have been appraised by provincial-level science and technology departments, winning two third prizes from the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation Science and Technology Progress Awards in 2011 and 2012. His research group was recognized as an "Innovation Advanced Collective" by the Beijing Trade Union in 2003, and he was named Beijing Excellent Teacher in 2004. His team was awarded the Beijing Worker Pioneer title in 2008. He was selected for the Beijing Higher Education Innovation Talent program in 2009, led the Beijing Excellent Course "Chemical Reaction Engineering" in 2010, headed the Beijing Excellent Teaching Team for the core chemical engineering curriculum group in 2010, was among the first batch of Beijing Great Wall Scholars in 2012, and led his team to be recognized as a Beijing Municipal Higher Education High-Level Innovation Team in 2017.
