Educational Objectives

This major aims to cultivate application-oriented engineering and technical talents with solid basic knowledge and skills in automation, a sense of social responsibility, professional ethics and humanistic qualities, and the ability to solve problems in automation system engineering, namely automation system engineers for production processes. It equips students with a broad range of engineering and technical foundations, professional theoretical knowledge and basic skills in areas such as automatic control, automation detection and instrumentation, intelligent control, systems engineering, robotics, industrial computer applications and industrial control networks. It also aims to train engineering application-oriented technical talents capable of engineering design, system integration, installation and commissioning, operation and maintenance for industries and fields such as smart factories, smart cities, intelligent manufacturing, artificial intelligence and industrial integration.

Cultivation Characteristics

This major has always adhered to the practical education concept of "practicing with reverence and emphasizing the unity of knowledge and action", continuously deepened the reform of engineering education, explored and practiced an application-oriented talent cultivation model with the cultivation of engineering capabilities as the main line, and formed professional characteristics such as outcome-oriented design, in-depth cooperation between schools and enterprises, and highlighting the cultivation of engineering capabilities.

The major has a well-structured teaching staff that meets the requirements of the professional training objectives and has a promising development trend. Among them, 70.8% of the teachers have working or practical experience in enterprises. A number of "simulated factory" laboratories composed of industrial equipment and production facilities have been built. We rely on the off-campus internship bases of Yanshan Petrochemical and Zhongguancun Software Park, to cultivate the students' engineering practical ability. In 2022, the Engineering Laboratory for Information Security of Process Control Systems in the Petroleum and Chemical Industry was approved. It is a provincial and ministerial-level key laboratory.
