Cultivation Characteristics

Program Strengths:

Biopharmaceuticals represent a high-tech sunrise industry with promising development potential, recognized as a strategic emerging industry in Beijing. This program is the only engineering program in biopharmaceuticals among universities in Beijing. The program adopts a "3+1" talent cultivation model, including three years of theoretical study on campus followed by one year of practical training in enterprises, enhancing students' competitiveness in the job market. It emphasizes project-based learning, fostering a systematic approach to solving R&D problems while aligning with the master's degree program in Biology and Medicine of the university to support further academic advancement.

Outstanding Faculty:

The program boasts a young, high-level faculty team of 33 full-time teachers, all graduates of prestigious institutions such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nankai University, and University of Wisconsin-Madison.

9 faculty members have received national-level talent honors (e.g., National Thousand Talents Plan).

57.6% of faculty members hold senior professional titles, and 75.8% are under 45 years old.

Over 97% of faculty members hold doctoral degrees.

The team has received numerous teaching and research awards, including the Beijing Teaching Achievement Award (Second Prize), First Prize in Beijing Youth Teacher Teaching Competition, and the China Invention Association Award (Second Prize). In addition, more than 20 enterprise engineers with 80% holding senior professional titles serve as part-time instructors, ensuring close alignment with industry needs through university-enterprise collaboration.

Disciplinary Platforms:

Since its establishment in 2019, the program has developed rapidly, earning the Biology and Medicine Master's Degree Authorization in 2022 and establishing the Modern Industrial College of Biomedicine. In the same year, the program was recognized as a Beijing Municipal First-Class Undergraduate Major Construction Site and included in the 2022 Exemplary Cases of Modern Industrial Colleges.

Relying on national-level industrial parks such as the Beijing E-Town Biomedical Park and the Zhongguancun Daxing Biopharmaceutical Industry Base, as well as the Enze Biomass Fine Chemical Beijing Key Laboratory, the program implements a "industry-education integration, collaborative talent cultivation" model. This ensures excellent teaching and practice conditions for high-quality education.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship:

The program has established education bases in collaboration with the E-Town Biomedical Park and Daxing Biopharmaceutical Base, implementing the "3+1" practical teaching and project-based practice teaching models to cultivate students' innovative thinking and entrepreneurial abilities.

To date, 174 students in the program have demonstrated outstanding performance, earning over 31 provincial or ministerial-level awards in national competitions such as the National Undergraduate Life Science Competition, the American Mathematical Contest in Modeling, and the Internet+ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.

Students have also participated in over 143 school-level and higher practical projects and have secured internships in prestigious biopharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer, receiving widespread praise.
