They are equipped to become well-rounded talents excelling in moral, intellectual, physical, esthetic, and labor education. After approximately five years of professional practice, graduates are expected to take on roles as core members of R&D teams, project management engineers, or technical supervisors.
Cultivation Characteristics
Program Strengths:
The program was designated as a National First-Class Undergraduate Major Construction Site in 2021 and passed the National Engineering Education Accreditation in 2020. It was recognized as a Beijing Municipal First-Class Undergraduate Major in 2019 and included in the Ministry of Education's Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program in 2011. In 2022, the Biology and Medicine Professional Master's Program was approved, and the program began admitting master's students in 2023.
Outstanding Faculty:
The program has a high-level teaching team led by national experts, with 95% of full-time faculty members holding doctoral degrees and 81% with engineering backgrounds or experience.
"3+1" Industry-Oriented Talent Cultivation Model:
The program has established a "university-enterprise collaboration" education mechanism, promoting deep industry participation throughout the "3+1" talent cultivation model. This ensures seamless integration from on-campus courses to enterprise-based practice, bridging knowledge systems with professional skills and academic education with industry needs. The model emphasizes the alignment of competency chains, curriculum chains, talent chains, and industry chains.
Competency-Based Curriculum System:
Guided by the development needs of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry chain, the program has designed a curriculum system that integrates pharmaceutical expertise and engineering principles. The curriculum is developed through reverse design to align cultivation objectives, graduation requirements, and curriculum systems, focusing on enhancing students' professional competencies.
Practical Training Base:
The program collaborates with the Beijing E-Town Biomedical Park to establish a talent training base, which was recognized as a Beijing Municipal Off-Campus Talent Training Base in 2015. Partnerships with key pharmaceutical enterprises, including Beijing Tongrentang Group, Beijing Tide Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., CR Double-Crane Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd., Beijing Norcon Pharma-Tech Co., Ltd., and others, support the development of a university-enterprise collaborative education system, ensuring high-quality engineering education. The "Practical Training Program" enables students to participate in high-level research projects at national institutions such as the Institute of Microbiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and National Institutes for Food and Drug Control.
Core Curriculum
Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering Principles, Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutical Process Engineering, Pharmaceutical Separation Engineering, Pharmaceutical Equipment and Workshop Design, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Pharmaceutical Process Safety and Environmental Protection, etc.
