Founded in 1995, the School of Engineering-training has rich practical engineering education resources and high-level teaching staff. It actively connects with the national strategy of digital, networked and intelligent manufacturing development, and fully meets the demand for high-end engineering technical talents for Beijing's high-precision advanced manufacturing. In 2026, the school will open a new vocational undergraduate major of Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering Technology, which aims to cultivate high-end front-line technical talents who can engage in intelligent production line design, integrated commissioning, operation monitoring and performance optimization.
The school commits to building an integrated education system combining engineering practice and innovation. It optimizes the practical talent training model in multiple dimensions including training orientation, curriculum framework, practical platforms, teaching faculty and school-enterprise collaboration mechanisms, and further deepens the integration of industry and education, as well as engineering training and innovation. The curriculum of Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering Technology Program integrates artificial intelligence technologies and vocational skill grading standards, enabling students to obtain advanced vocational certificates such as Intelligent Production Line Control and Operation and Industrial Robot System Operation. Students get joint guidance from university and enterprise mentors, realizing the integration of curricula and vocational certificates and project-oriented teaching.
Supported by two national-level platforms, the National Engineering Practice Education Center and the National Virtual Simulation Experimental Center, as well as Beijing Excellent Engineering Practice Laboratories, the school has built 16 high-standard training venues such as the Digital Twin Intelligent Manufacturing Laboratory and Industrial Robot Innovation Center, which fully cover the whole workflow of intelligent production lines. Each year, more than 4,000 students take part in engineering training. The school has won over 20 gold and first prizes in national discipline competitions for three consecutive years. It has signed talent training and industry-university-research cooperation agreements with eight well-known enterprises and research institutes including Siemens (China) and Sinopec Yanshan Petrochemical, ensuring that teaching content keeps pace with cutting-edge industrial technologies.
As a core institutional carrier supporting the university's strategic goal of establishing a leading cradle for outstanding engineering talents in the capital region, the school is dedicated to cultivating high-quality, practice-oriented engineering talents for the capital region in the new era. Its developmental orientation is highly aligned with Beijing's demand for technical core personnel in key industrial sectors including intelligent equipment, energy and chemical equipment, rail transit, and medical intelligent manufacturing. The vocational undergraduate program of Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering Technology functions as the school's benchmark program for specialized talent cultivation.
Core Practical Research Directions: Commissioning and integration of intelligent manufacturing systems, design and integration of intelligent production lines, digital twin manufacturing, operation and maintenance of industrial robots, and cultivation of engineering innovation and maker talents.
