School of New Materials and Chemical Engineering
The School of Advanced Materials and Chemical Engineering was established in June 2021 through the merger of the former School of Chemical Engineering and the School of Materials Science and Engineering. The college consists of three departments: Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, and Pharmaceutical Engineering, as well as two fundamental teaching and experiment centers. Currently, it hosts over 1,480 undergraduate students and 360 graduate students.
The school offers two first-level master's degree programs in Materials Science and Engineering and Chemical Engineering and Technology, along with two professional master's categories in Materials and Chemical Engineering and Biology and Medicine. It houses six undergraduate programs: Chemical Engineering and Technology, Polymer Materials and Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Drug Analysis. Among these, three programs are recognized as national first-class undergraduate programs, and three are designated as Beijing first-class undergraduate programs. In 2023, the school launched the Drug Analysis program, becoming the only university in Beijing to offer this unique program.
The school is equipped with modern teaching and research platforms, including the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, the Virtual Teaching Laboratory for Pharmaceutical Engineering, and three Beijing Key Laboratories. It also hosts a Beijing Collaborative Innovation Center and several other high-level research platforms. The total laboratory space exceeds 12,000 square meters, with equipment valued at 220 million RMB. Over the past five years, the school has undertaken more than 300 research projects, including major national and provincial projects. In 2023, the school secured nearly 30 million RMB in research funding, including its first 500-million-level "Revealing the List" project and a single technology transfer contract exceeding 2 million RMB.
The school has a highly qualified faculty team of 120 members, including 27 professors and 49 associate professors, with over 84% holding doctoral degrees. It is home to several distinguished talents, including national-level distinguished professors, Great Wall Scholars, and Beijing Teaching Masters. Multiple teaching teams have been recognized as National Outstanding Teaching Teams for the petroleum and chemical industries. In 2023, the Pharmaceutical Engineering Department Party Branch was honored as an Advanced Grassroots Party Organization in Beijing Universities.
